This adventure comedy set in the world of strong Vikings and wild dragons brings you the story of Hiccup, a teenage Viking who does not fit in very well with the ancient traditions and customs of his tribe of heroic dragon slayers.

The story is based on Cressida Cowell’s book about the teenage Viking Hiccup (JAY BARUCHEL) who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. This teenager’s advanced views and quirky sense of humor don’t sit well with the tribe’s leader… who also happens to be Hiccup’s father, Stoick the Vast (GERARD BUTLER).

When Hiccup is put into dragon-fighting training with fellow Viking teenagers Astrid (AMERICA FERRERA), Snotlout (JONAH HILL), Fishlegs (CHRISTOPHER MINTZ-PLASSE), and twins Ruffnut (KRISTEN WIIG) and Tuffnut (TJ. MILLER), he decides to show to everyone that he can become a real fighter. But when he meets and befriends a wounded dragon, his world is turned upside down, and his desire to prove himself to the tribe will turn into an opportunity to change the future of all the people around him.

Regardless, Hiccup and the gang decide to accompany him for his own good. On the sea voyage, Gobber tells the story of his rivalry with the beast, which gets sillier with each episode. When the gang find themselves shipwrecked on the suspected island of the beast, they are about to learn the truth about the dragon.

While Astrid ineffectually tries to salvage the occasion, Hiccup decides to build Toothless a new prosthetic to allow him to fly independently, only to have the dragon take off as well. However, as the holiday approaches, Hiccup finds himself swept up to learn the dragons’ secret the hard way and to find a solution to bring them home early.

To solve the problem, Hiccup’s father, Stoick the Vast, organizes the Berk Dragon Academy where his son and friends can learn all about Dragons. Even as grumpy doubters like Mildew and villains like Alvin the Treacherous oppose them, the Viking teens of Berk and their dragons dedicate themselves to achieving a vital understanding.

First, he misses his friend Toothless; second, he has just found out that his daughter Zephyr and his son Nuffink have found Stoick’s old journals (written before Vikings and dragons became friends) and now believe that all dragons are dangerous and should be destroyed.

To help him possibly change their minds, Astrid suggests reviving the old traditions of Snoggletog, including a play in which Stoick the Vast’s memory will be honored and (perhaps) the children’s minds changed.

Meanwhile on the Hidden World island, Toothless, through the use of sand drawings, tells his three Night Light children about his best friend Hiccup, inspiring them to make a secret flight to New Berk to see for themselves.
