Late one night, Barton calls Audrey for help, so she comes to his place and the two make love. When Barton wakes up, he sees the dead Audrey lying in a pool of blood.
Charlie helps Barton clean up the scene and advises him not to call the police and cause a scandal. Charlie then goes out of town for a couple of days and leaves a mysterious package for Barton to keep.
