When Mark is injured in a conflict with zombies, Selena kills him without thinking and quite cold-bloodedly. Not long after, Jim and she notice light signals on the balcony of a skyscraper, and realize that they are still healthy people.

Having managed to break into their apartment, Jim and Selena discover that it is middle-aged Frank (B. Gleeson) and his teenage daughter Hannah (M. Burns), who have organized some kind of living conditions in a cramped space. When they soon catch a recorded radio message from the roof of the building in which the army calls the survivors to a safe area near Manchester, Jim, Selena, Frank and his daughter decide to get into a car and try to get out of the city.
