There’s something about Paris that instantly steals your breath—the golden light on stone buildings, the smell of buttery croissants, and the sound of soft jazz floating from a tucked-away café. Whether it’s your first trip or your fifth, the city never loses its sparkle.
This six-day itinerary is perfect for travelers who want to see iconic landmarks and indulge in the city’s soul: its café culture. I recently spent a week wandering through charming neighborhoods, sipping espresso with a view of the Eiffel Tower, and falling in love with the small moments Paris does best.
Day 1: Arriving in Paris and Evening by the Eiffel Tower
Touch down at Charles de Gaulle Airport, grab your bags, and head into the city. I always recommend staying somewhere central, like the 7th arrondissement, so you’re within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. After checking in, take a stroll along the Seine River, letting the atmosphere wash over you.
As the sun sets, find a cozy spot at Le Recrutement Café—yes, it’s touristy, but the view of the Eiffel Tower glowing against the twilight sky is unbeatable. Order a kir royal, toast to your arrival, and watch the tower sparkle on the hour. It’s an unforgettable first impression.
Day 2: Exploring the Eiffel Tower and Seine Cruise
Start your morning with flaky pastries from Boulangerie Poujauran, a local favorite, before heading to the Eiffel Tower. Pre-booking a ticket to the summit is a must—early morning slots mean fewer crowds and soft, golden light for photos. The view over Paris is the kind that stays with you forever.
In the afternoon, hop on a Bateaux Parisiens cruise for a scenic glide along the Seine. It’s touristy, yes, but completely worth it. You’ll pass under historic bridges and float by landmarks like Notre-Dame and Musée d’Orsay. End your day at Les Cocottes, a chic spot with hearty French fare just minutes from the tower.
Day 3: Montmartre Magic and Artistic Charm
Start your day in Montmartre, one of Paris’s most picturesque and creative neighborhoods. Wander uphill to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, then take your time strolling through cobbled streets once walked by Picasso and Dali. By afternoon, stroll over to Jardin du Luxembourg, my personal favorite green space in Paris. It’s peaceful, elegant, and the perfect place for a break. Grab a bench by the pond, or join locals in a game of chess under the trees. Don’t forget to grab a macaron from nearby Pierre Hermé.
Day 6: Café Culture and Departure Day
Spend your final morning doing what Paris does best—sitting in a café, letting the world pass by. Head to Café Charlot in the Marais, a classic Parisian café with excellent coffee and views of morning shoppers. This area is full of charming boutiques, so take time to browse.
If you have extra time before your flight, wander through the Place des Vosges or pick up picnic supplies from Marché des Enfants Rouges. With the Eiffel Tower in the distance and your carry-on filled with cheese and memories, you’ll already be planning your return.
