6 Days in Sydney: Opera House Days and Bondi Beach Walks
There’s something magical about arriving in Sydney. The fresh sea breeze, iconic skyline, and vibrant mix of culture and coast hit you all at once. Whether you’re drawn to its famous landmarks or its laid-back beach lifestyle, Sydney knows how to steal your heart early—and keep it.
In this 6-day itinerary, I’ll guide you through some of my favorite moments in Australia’s most photogenic city. From gazing up at the Sydney Opera House to taking in ocean views along the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, you’ll get a little bit of everything: city, surf, food, and fun.

Day 1: Exploring Circular Quay and the Opera House

Start your trip with a stroll through Circular Quay, the bustling harbor hub surrounded by ferries, street performers, and glittering water views. It’s the perfect introduction to Sydney’s rhythm, and you’ll instantly see why it’s a favorite spot among locals and visitors alike.

No visit is complete without seeing the Sydney Opera House up close. I booked a guided tour that gave me a peek inside its theaters and backstage areas—definitely worth it for architecture and culture lovers. Afterwards, grab lunch at Opera Bar, where the views are just as delicious as the food.
Day 2: Royal Botanic Garden and The Rocks

Take a slow morning walk through the Royal Botanic Garden, right next to the Opera House. It’s free, peaceful, and filled with native plants and panoramic harbor views. I loved starting the day under the towering fig trees and stopping for coffee at The Calyx café inside the gardens.

In the afternoon, head over to The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest neighborhood. The cobblestone lanes, historic pubs, and weekend markets give it so much charm. Don’t miss The Glenmore rooftop for sunset drinks with a killer view of the Opera House from above.
Day 3: Harbour Cruise and Darling Harbour

One of the best ways to see Sydney is from the water. I hopped on a harbor cruise in the morning and cruised past Harbour Bridge, waterfront mansions, and hidden coves. It’s especially beautiful in the early hours when the water’s calm and the city glows.

Spend your afternoon at Darling Harbour, a lively area with shops, dining, and attractions like SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and the Australian National Maritime Museum. It’s a great place to unwind, people-watch, or treat yourself to a seafood dinner by the water.
Day 4: Bondi Beach and the Coastal Walk

Today is all about the coast. Head to Bondi Beach early to snag a spot on the sand or catch a morning surf lesson. Even if you don’t surf, just watching the locals is a show of its own. And don’t forget to stop by Bondi Icebergs Pool—one of the most iconic ocean pools in the world.
Lace up your sneakers for the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, a 3.7-mile trail with stunning cliffs, turquoise bays, and secret beaches like Tamarama and Bronte. I took my time, snapping photos, grabbing a smoothie along the way, and finishing with a dip at Coogee Beach.
Day 5: Day Trip to the Blue Mountains

If you’re craving a break from the city, a day trip to the Blue Mountains is an absolute must. I joined a small group tour and headed west to see the Three Sisters, hike through eucalyptus forests, and ride the world’s steepest railway at Scenic World.
The mountain air and dramatic scenery were a refreshing change of pace. We stopped at Leura, a quaint village with cute cafés and boutiques, for lunch before heading back to Sydney in time for dinner. Pro tip: bring layers—it gets chilly up there, even in summer!
Day 6: Surry Hills, Paddington, and Sunset Views
Wrap up your Sydney adventure with a more local vibe. Start the morning in Surry Hills, where the coffee scene is top-notch and boutiques are filled with Aussie fashion labels. I wandered through Bourke Street Bakery for a pastry and browsed vintage finds on Crown Street.
Later, walk through Paddington, known for its terraces and art galleries. End the day at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for one last breathtaking sunset. It’s the perfect spot to reflect on your 6 days in Sydney—with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge glowing as the sky fades to pink.
